JEDDAH, 9 May 2005 — A Tabuk youngster put right his father’s wrongs and his family back together with the help of a prince.

Eleven-year-old Faris Al-Muazzin from the northwestern city of Amlaj has become a popular topic of conversation after he succeeded in convincing Tabuk Governor Prince Fahd ibn Sultan to release his father, who was imprisoned for causing the death of two Egyptians in a road accident.

Faris got the chance to meet the governor while he was on a tour of the city to inaugurate welfare and development projects. The boy explained to him the trials his poor family faced after the imprisonment of his father two months ago.

Faris managed to get close to the prince while he was attending a popular reception hosted in his honor by Amlaj people.

“Somebody tried to stop me while I was heading for the governor,” the boy told Al-Madinah newspaper. “But the governor was so kind that he allowed me to meet him.”

Faris presented the governor a letter narrating the whole story and requested him to release his father. “The governor then asked me whether I had any other requests,” the boy said. “I told him I have no other requests. My only request is the release of my father.”

“Don’t worry, my son,” Prince Fahd said, embracing the boy. “Your father will be at home very soon.” Prince Fahd told officials he would pay the blood money and instructed them to free the boy’s father. “Within hours my father was at home,” the boy said. “Thanks to God and the kind gesture of the prince.”

The boy said he would never forget the great humanitarian gesture of the governor. He also thanked Muhammad Mahmoud, director of the Charitable Store, for giving him the chance to meet the governor.
