JEDDAH, 15 May 2005 — Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd yesterday approved the new members of the Kingdom’s 13 provincial councils. The councils will advise the government on regional development.
Interior Minister Prince Naif thanked King Fahd, Crown Prince Abdullah and Prince Sultan, second deputy premier and minister of defense and aviation, for approving appointment of the new members for a four-year term from 2005 to 2009.
He emphasized the significant role of the regional councils in boosting overall development of the regions. “During the past 12 years, these councils have made tremendous contributions toward promoting regional development,” the Saudi Press Agency quoted the prince as saying.
Prince Naif hoped that the new members would follow the lead of their predecessors under the able supervision of regional governors, dedicating their know-how and expertise for the welfare and progress of the country and its people.
The new members include prominent businessmen and young professionals.
The new council members in the Makkah region are: Hassan Jamjoom, Adel Kaaki, Muhammad Binzagr, Marae Binmahfouz, Abdul Aziz Bin Saqer, Ghazi Madani, Saleh Al-Turki, Ibrahim Al-Faqeeh, Hamoud Al-Qathami, Zuhair Fayez, Saad Al-Shambari, Faisal Sairafy, Suleiman Al-Harbi, Ali Hussein Alireza, Muhammad Saifuddin, Mazen Batterjee, Mousa Al-Amran, Haithem Naseer, Fouad Ghazzali and Hani Saab.
Riyadh region: Abdullah Al-Zaid, Dr. Othman Al-Omar, Ali Al-Shambari, Muhammad Al-Jarboue, Ahmed Al-Mazeed, Suleiman Al-Shayie, Nasser Juma, Mudkar Al-Motairy, Muhammad Al-Fawaz, Mubarak Al-Qahtani, Abdullah Al-Salim, Abdul Rahman Al-Khurayyef, Rtd. Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Al-Takhees, Farraj Abuthnain, Ibrahim Al-Hussein, Muhammad Al-Sahli, Khaled Al-Muqairen, Saad Al-Oraifi, Muhammad Al-Sultan and Sarhan Al-Otaibi.
