JEDDAH, 16 May 2005 — Seventeen countries are showcasing their products at the 23rd edition of multisectoral trade expo that opened at Jeddah International Exhibition & Convention Center yesterday. Al-Harithy Company for Exhibitions Ltd.’s executives said eight of the participating countries had set up pavilions, with India being the largest participant with 38 companies. Pakistan Consul General Masood Akhtar said the participation of Pakistani companies was aimed to negotiate for local agents. “We also intend to stage a solo exhibition for our industrial products next year,” he said, adding that Pakistani products, which enjoy international reputation, will also be featured at the upcoming trade show in Riyadh later this month. Pakistani Commercial Counselor Hijab Gul said the consulate was working on a plan to establish a permanent trade exhibition at its premises. Indian Consul General Dr. Ausaf Sayeed said a number of participants from his country were first-timers. The Indian consulate is organizing a buyer-seller meet from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Jeddah Trident today.
