DAMMAM, 29 May 2005 — Over 2000 voters cast their vote in the International Indian School, Dammam, management committee elections. Representatives from the Ministry of Education and the Indian Embassy oversaw the elections. The build up to the elections was very enthusiastic and the 15 short-listed candidates made every efforts to reach out to the voters. This election saw the candidates forming several panels, and then organized meetings with parents.
The seven elected members are: Abdulla Manjeri (Kerala), Rizwanulla Khan (Karnataka), Syed M. Shahul Hameed (Tamil Nadu), Dr. Mumtaz Ali (Rajasthan), Mohammed Rafi (Tamil Nadu), John Thomas (Kerala) and Dr. Syed Zainul Abidin (Andhra Pradesh).
“I was on the committee last year too, so I am quite familiar with the requirements of the school,” said Manjeri who secured the highest votes. Rizwanulla secured the second-highest votes.
All the elected members were happy that Shifale Shashidharan had made the school proud by standing first in the X standard.
Shifali said, “I worked very hard, around 7-8 hours a day, but that did not stop me from enjoying my extra curricular activities.”
