ALKHOBAR, 2 June 2005 — SaringHimig with special participation of SPA Talents will perform in a concert for a cause dubbed “SaringHimig Blends” tomorrow at the Gulf Pearl Compound in Alkhobar.
SaringHimig’s blends director Elmore Francisco said the audience will be treated on a combination of pop, novelty, contemporary, love and African songs.
“We selected pieces with high entertainment value as we wanted to make sure that the audience get a truly enjoyable concert experience,” Francisco said.
Saringhimig is a newly formed non-profit organization composed of OFWs in the Eastern Province “whose common interests are in the performance of good choral music through a year-long program of regular rehearsals, concerts and outreach programs.”
“With the performance of choral music as its platform, SaringHimig envisage to be an effective instrument in providing OFWs a worthwhile venue for building unity and camaraderie, protecting the welfare of its members, engaging in creative pursuits and showcasing to both the Filipino and expatriate audiences the beauty of Philippine music and the innate musical talent of Filipinos,” the group said in a press statement.
SaringHimig’s president, Ronald Ona, said the organization also hopes to generate funds for special beneficiaries.
“For our initial undertaking, we are currently pulling up a musical concert. Of which, part of the proceeds are intended to be given to our beneficiary — Bantay Bata 163.” Ona said.
Bantay Bata 163 is an NGO based in the Philippines that shelters poor, oppressed and abandoned children thereby, giving them hope for a brighter future.
Gate opens at 4 p.m. with the concert starting promptly at 5 p.m. Tickets are priced at SR25.00. The group is open for audition for their next season’s concert. Ronald Ona could be reached at 05028-68036.
