JEDDAH, 6 June 2005 — The Makkah Education Administration has dismissed a boys’ school principal for illegally employing an expatriate who had raped a young student.

According to Al-Madinah, a Bangladeshi was arrested last week for raping a 7-year-old boy in an elementary school. The school administration attempted a cover-up but the boy’s father reported the crime to the police who, after taking evidence, turned the case over to the Investigation Department.

Though the Education Administration initially refused to comment, it has now dismissed the principal of the school. The administration also wrote a warning letter to the head of the Educational Supervision Center for being late in informing them of the incident.

The Bangladeshi was employed as a janitor in the school even though he had no legal documents.

The boy testified that the janitor had touched him in different “sensitive” areas of his body. Investigations continue.
