WASHINGTON, 14 June 2005 — Junior Spivey smacked a two-run homer to lead the Washington Nationals to a 3-2 victory over the Seattle Mariners and a franchise record equaling 10th straight win in Interleague play at RFK Stadium on Sunday.

The result completed a 12-1 homestand for the red-hot Nationals, who have not put together 10 consecutive wins since June 1997 when the team was known as the Montreal Expos.

The move to the US capital has energized the Nationals who improved their home record to 24-9.

Chad Cordero came on to work a scoreless ninth to notch his 19th save of the season.

In St. Louis, Scott Seabol smacked a pinch-hit two-run homer to key a four-run seventh inning as Cardinals rallied to down the struggling New York Yankees 5-3.

In Cincinnati, Rich Aurilia clubbed a three-run homer and Ken Griffey Jr added a two-run shot, powering the Reds to a 10-6 victory over the Baltimore Orioles for their fifth win in six games. The Athletics broke open a close contest with six runs in seventh, keyed by a three-run homer from Mark Kotsay and a solo shot by Chavez.
