CAIRO, 16 June 2005 — Prominent Egyptian actress Raghda has announced shocking revelations about the late renowned Egyptian actor Ahmad Zaki, while appearing as a guest on the show “Mubashir” (Live) aired on MBC satellite channel.

On the show, hosted by journalist Mahmoud Saed, Raghda revealed that she was, due to their strong friendship and close bond, Ahmad’s caretaker during his illness.

She affirmed that Ahmad would have done the same for her if she were ill, adding that she had become experienced assisting cancer patients since losing her mother and brother to the disease just last year.

Raghda explained that “Ahmad went blind before his death, a week before he fell into a coma.”

She added that his right arm became paralyzed, and suggested that certain members of his medical team neglected to watch him closely before he fell into the coma.

The actress denied that she and Ahmad were secretly married, but revealed that he had asked for her hand in marriage while he was being treated to avoid the creation of rumors that may hurt her reputation.

Recently, the administration committee of the International Arts Festival in Tunisia held a special cultural night for Raghda, in which she recited a poem she wrote in honor of Ahmad. During the ceremony, Raghda talked about her journey in the acting world and the most important highlights, citing as an example of her success in producing two films about children in Palestine and Iraq.

The audience at the ceremony requested that the actress recite her personal poem “Ahmad Zaki won the bet,” expressing her deep feelings for the late actor and celebrating his achievements.
