CommTel 2005, in its 20th year in Saudi Arabia, will take place from Dec. 12-16. Being held with the support of the Communications & Information Technology Commission, the Al-Harithy Company for Exhibitions (ACE) is organizing the annual event at the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s International Exhibition & Convention Center.
“Almost 90 percent of the exhibitors of CommTel 2004 are taking part in the upcoming event,” said Zahoor Siddique, exhibitions director of ACE.
The exhibition will feature national and international participants, most of whom will include manufacturers and dealers of mobile phones, computers and computer accessories and Internet and mobile phone service providers, Siddique added, noting that the visitor turnout this time is expected to exceed last year’s 90,000, due to the growing use of computer and mobile phones.
CommTel 2004 witnessed a rise of 18 percent in exhibitor participation and over 12 percent increase in the visitor turnout. “The five-day event also proved to be rewarding for exhibitors as they signed major deals running into several million dollars,” Siddique said.
King Abdul Aziz University, which organized a high-profile symposium at last year’s event, has shown interest in conducting a similar program this year as well. The symposium, which will run alongside the exhibition, will feature presentations by experts covering vital areas related to the IT sector including e-learning, Internet technology and electronic trade.
