JEDDAH, 18 July 2005 — A fierce fight between two mothers-in-law at a gold market in Qateef became the talk of the town recently. The two women, mothers of a bride and bridegroom, differed in their opinions over the gifts to be given to the bride’s sisters, Okaz reported. The owner was forced to close the shop fearing that the fight would cause damage to his glass counters and other facilities, the paper said. Both sides fought using whatever they possessed including handbags and shoes. The fight started when the bride’s mother asked her friends to look for jewelry sets for her daughters. The two families had come to the market to select the jewelry for the bride.
