JEDDAH, 9 September 2005 — The Al-Kandara Police are questioning 40 suspects in the murder of a Bangladeshi guard of a drug company in the Al-Baghdadiah District here. According to Al-Madinah newspaper, the first information points to a group of Chadian and Bangladeshi suspects. The police are verifying their fingerprints with those found at the crime scene.
Two days ago, the Bangladeshi guard was found murdered in the drug company where he worked.
A gang of thieves broke into the company in the middle of the night and stole a number of the company’s safes. The preliminary investigations have revealed that along with the stolen safes a number of the company’s important records were stolen too.
The 28-year-old Shah Khan heard noises in his office. When he went to investigate he walked into a robbery while it was in progress.
On seeing that he was outnumbered, he took flight. Police think there were more than three members in the gang.
In a police reconstruction of the crime, the robbers then chased the guard as he tried to escape. They first threw at Shah some of the objects they had stolen; he evaded them and ran to the seventh floor.
They followed him, caught him and then hit him. But once again the guard managed to escape as he scrambled to the eighth and last floor of the building. The gang followed him and threw an object that caught him at the back of the head. That proved fatal.
The cold-blooded killers then took the guard’s body back to the office and locked the body in one of the toilets. They then robbed the offices on the eighth floor of the building before making their escape.
Alam Senan, the victim’s brother, identified Shah’s body. He was shocked on seeing the blood-drenched body of his brother. Shah had only worked as a guard at the company for eight months.
The company’s employees said that Shah was a quiet man who got along with everybody.
