HYDERABAD, 18 September 2005 — Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil yesterday said the central government would chalk out a new action plan in consultation with the states to tackle the Maoist problem.
Patil said that the center had called a meeting of chief ministers of Naxalite-affected states tomorrow to bring about better coordination among the states and the center in dealing with the problem.
He said that strategies would be discussed to tackle the problem that has spread to many states.
He pointed out that there was a demand for “uniform policy and united and coordinated operations” from all the affected states, in the wake of the recent killings by Maoists in Jharkhand, Chattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh.
The union home minister was in the city to participate in the passing-out parade of the 28th batch of sub-inspectors and executives of the Central Industrial Security Force at the National Industrial Security Academy at Hakimpet.
