MANAMA, 30 September 2005 — Fifty-three-year-old Saudi Saad ibn Khalifa Al-Mahlem died at the wheel yesterday morning on the Sheikh Khalifa Bridge in Bahrain as he headed toward Muharraq.
Al-Mahlem, who rear-ended a truck that had stopped for a red traffic light, was said to have passed out while driving following a severe hypoglycemic attack.
He fell into a coma and died at the wheel. He also sustained injures from the accident.
Al-Mahlem’s body was taken to the Salmaniya Medical Complex morgue. His relatives will be arriving here later to take his body back home for burial.
Sources said that Al-Mahlem, a businessman, visited Bahrain frequently and had invested in various ventures.
The Pakistani driver of the truck, that Al-Mahlem hit, was not injured in the accident.
