The First National Information Technology Symposium, “Bridging the Digital Divide: Challenges and Solutions” Feb. 5-7, 2006, sponsored by the College of Computer and Information Sciences at King Saud University, has put out an open call for papers.

In a statement, the symposium committee said: “Information technology and its applications have played a dominant role in the day-to-date activities of our human and work lives. Indeed, the many uses of IT and the different shades of people that are affected by IT have fueled researchers and practitioners in their quest to develop innovative and diverse technologies in this area. In addition, the advent of the Internet and its worldwide acceptance as a reliable and fast medium for the transfer and exchange of exchange of multimedia data have introduced new challenges for researchers and practitioners in IT. The university would like to provoke the exchange of ideas concerning IT.”

Individuals interested in presenting articles on any of the topics in IT should first send an e-mail containing a two-page extended abstract of the paper including keywords, results and main contributions to the Symposium Scientific Committee before the abstract deadline of Oct. 19, 2005. Those whose abstracts have been accepted for presentation in the symposium will be notified and be required to submit the full paper to the Symposium Scientific Committee at the NITS 2006 website.
