MUSCAT, 11 October 2005 — Oman will be hosting the first ever Arab Economic Freedom Awards in November this year. Six awards will be given to governments from across the Arab world in recognition of their achievements in the creation of wealth through the promotion of economic freedom. The International Research Foundation (IRF) in association with the Fraser Institute (Canada) announced the launch of these awards at a press conference held at the Al Bustan Palace Hotel addressed by Salem Ben Nasser Al Ismaily, executive president of the Omani Center for Investment Promotion and Export Development (OCIPED); and Fred McMahon, director, center for globalization studies, Fraser Institute, along with members of the organizing committee.
