Ten Contractors Fined for Littering

MAKKAH, 30 October 2005 — Makkah Municipality punished ten contractors and commercial storeowners with fines ranging from SR1,000 to SR5,000 for throwing liter randomly. Environmental Health general director, Dr. Safi Mujallid, said that the municipality has emphasized on contractors and all commercial storeowners to throw their liter at the designated areas, reported Al-Watan newspaper. A number of trucks and cement mixers have been held and their owners fined and made to sign a warning and remove what they dumped and clean the area.
