TABUK, 13 November 2005 — Many Saudi students studying in Jordan have been stranded here after the Jordanian authorities closed the country’s border with the Kingdom following Wednesday night’s bombings in Amman that killed 58 people and wounded hundreds of others. The students, who were returning to Jordan by road after spending their Eid holidays in the Kingdom, were forced to postpone their journey until the border is reopened. A number of Saudi families who spent Eid holidays in Syria have also been unable to drive home as they have to travel through Jordan in order to reach the Kingdom. Some of them returned to Syria in hopes of getting a flight home.
