AL-DARB, 20 November 2005 — Police in Al-Darb in the southern region of Asir have arrested two Saudis for trying to assault two young women. According to Al-Watan, the two men met the women in the street and asked for their phone numbers but the women refused.
The men then dragged the women to a dark street corner and tried to rape them. They beat the women and in the struggle, one of them escaped and called for help. Police arrested the two men and the girls were taken to hospital.
In a similar incident, police in Riyadh arrested three young Saudis for kidnapping a runaway Indonesian maid, Al-Madinah reported.
The young men forced the woman into their car and drove to an isolated area outside the city where they planned to rape her. A witness alerted the police who pursued them and arrested the men. The woman was sent back to her employer.
