JEDDAH, 1 December 2005 — Air-India and its general sales agent Kanoo Travel said on Tuesday that they were ready with preparations for transporting Haj pilgrims.
Their senior representatives referred to the Haj preparations at the inauguration of the airline’s refurbished office on Madinah Road.
“YBA Kanoo and A-I have been partners for almost 50 years in this region,” said Kanoo Travel Executive Board Chairman Mubarak Kanoo.
“There has been a considerable increase in the airline’s frequencies between the Kingdom and India,” said Sanjeev Talwar, A-I’s regional director for the Gulf. The airline operates weekly 31 flights from the Kingdom to India, 14 of them from Jeddah with nonstop operations to Calicut, Hyderabad, Bombay and Lucknow/Delhi.
These flights are important in servicing travelers originating in the Western Province and visitors coming to the Kingdom for Haj, Umrah, or business travel. In addition, the airline has weekly eight services from Riyadh and nine others from Dammam.
“Kanoo will continue to invest in this relationship by upgrading the infrastructure and facilities to provide improved services to our travelers,” Ali Kanoo, area manager, YBA Kanoo, said. Kanoo has been supporting the airline with its network of 70 offices all over the Kingdom.
A-I’s Western Province Manager P. Ashok Kumar said the refurbished set-up would help further in rendering effective service to the traveling public.
