KARACHI, 19 December 2005 — Pakistani Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said in Karachi that the technical reports made by various committees will be made public soon.
The prime minister said the government has decided to publish the three reports on water reservoirs issue. He said the government has initiated a process of dialogue and consultation with all stakeholders.
The government believes in taking along all parties and all concerned are being taken into confidence.
The prime minister said the government will do justice to all provinces and areas and nobody will be deprived of their due rights.
After a meeting with Pir Pagara here the prime minister said that need for water reservoirs cannot be overemphasized for the progress and development of agriculture sector which encompasses two-third of the country’s overall economy.
Sindh Governor Ishratul Ebad Khan, and Chief Minister Ghulam Arbab Rahim were also present in the meeting.
“The agriculture sector will progress only when abundant water resources are available in the country to cater to the growing water requirements of this sector,” he said.
Aziz said construction of water reservoirs also came during discussion with Pir Pagara who told him that whatever is in the country’s interest must be carried forward.
Emphasizing that every province and growers should get their due share of water, the prime minister said everyone would be taken along for construction of water reservoirs which will bring great progress in the country in future.
