JEDDAH, 19 December 2005 — Police in Jeddah arrested a gay Filipino for allegedly killing a Saudi man and hanging the body inside the bathroom of the Saudi’s house in Jeddah’s Al-Faisaliya district.

According to a report carried by Al-Madinah Arabic daily, the murder took place about 10 days ago and the killer had run away to Qassim to escape arrest.

Investigations revealed that the alleged killer was having an affair with the slain Saudi man and had spent the night together on the day he was murdered, the paper said, adding that both were in a state of intoxication.

The paper said the Filipino killed the Saudi following a quarrel as the Saudi stopped him while he was going out of the house.

“The Filipino dragged him to the bathroom after killing him and hanged him there,” it added.

Police started investigation after they found the Saudi’s body inside the bathroom of his house in Al-Faisaliya, close to the globe roundabout. Brig. Misfer Al-Zehami, chief of Jeddah police, set up a team to hunt down the suspected killer.

Investigators learned that the Filipino had told some of his friends that he had killed the Saudi and that he would flee to escape arrest. Police later found the man in the northern Qassim region. Lt. Muhammad Al-Johani was dispatched to Qassim to arrest the man and bring him to Jeddah for interrogation.

The alleged murderer said he befriended the Saudi five days before the crime.
