CAIRO, 2 August 2006 — Egyptian singer Tamir Hosni, who is currently serving time in Cairo’s Al-Harbi Prison, has written a song in support of the Palestinian and Lebanese struggle against Israeli aggression.

Hosni’s song begins with the words “steadfast against any trial” and has been composed with the help of his musician friend Haytham Shaker who is also in jail with him.

Tamir has served half of his one-year jail sentence for forging documents about his military services. Speaking to Asharq Al-Awsat, Hosni said he felt frustrated when he saw the destruction that was taking place in Palestine and Lebanon.

“After having become shocked by seeing those wounded and dead children, I was impelled to take my pen and scribble down my feelings.”
