AHSA, 12 August 2006 — Two young Saudi women, best friends, had shared most of their lives together. Since childhood they were joined at the proverbial hip. They traveled together. They shared each other’s secrets. And at least once a week for as long as they could remember they spent the night at each other’s homes. So when one of them got married, it threw a chink in their chain. That is, until they agreed that they should both be married to the same man. The daily Al-Madinah reported yesterday that the husband, to the delight of the best friends, agreed to marry both of them.
Man Thinks Therapists Are for Crazy People
JEDDAH, 12 August 2006 — A psychologist made the mistake of suggesting that a husband participate with his wife in some good old-fashioned marriage counseling, the daily Al-Madinah reported yesterday. Instead of taking part in therapy aimed at improving marital relations, the man prohibited his wife from attending any further counseling. The husband simply couldn’t accept the idea that he could benefit from marriage counseling — where husband and wife learn with a professional how to support each other despite their respective faults or irrational fears. To him, anyone who goes to counseling is a raving lunatic.
