SCT Conducts Tourism Surveys

RIYADH, 15 January 2006 — The Supreme Commission for Tourism (SCT) is conducting a survey of the variety of tourism activities during the Eid Al-Adha. This is part of SCT’s project on tourism activities such as festivities, concerts and other programs during Eid and school vacations in the Kingdom, reported Al-Madinah newspaper. The purpose is to define the aspects of internal tourism in terms of supply and demand, amount of mobility, types of tourists, places, duration, mode of transportation, expenses, accommodations and other factors as well as tourists’ opinions.

STC Increases Jawal Network

MADINAH, 15 January 2006 — In order to improve services for pilgrims visiting Madinah, the Saudi Telecom Company (STC) increased the capacity of its Jawal network in the Madinah region to serve an additional 64,000 clients, reported Al-Eqtisadiah newspaper. This brings the total network capacity to 625,000 lines which will improve the quality of the network and expand its coverage by operating 23 locations in vital areas. In addition, contracts with 130 countries were made in order to provide international roaming through 340 operating services around the world.
