RIYADH, 3 February 2006 — Czech Health Minister Dr. Rath will visit the Kingdom from Feb. 4-6 at the invitation of his Saudi counterpart, according to the Czech Embassy.
“During the visit, the text of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) will be finalized. The MOU represents cooperation between the two countries in the fields of medicine, health care, medical studies and exchange of information,” an advisory from the embassy said. The MOU is expected to be signed by the Czech Republic and the Kingdom in the near future.
The Czech minister will be accompanied by a group of Czech businessmen and experts from different fields.
The group also includes Czech journalists. The group will hold meetings and negotiations with their Saudi counterparts.
The Czech Republic is famous for its spas and hospitals. The embassy grants 5,000 visas annually to Saudis seeking treatment in the country. There are about 150 Czech doctors and nurses working in Saudi hospitals.
Specialized Czech hospital beds, medical instruments and medicines are now available in the Saudi market.
“The number of Saudi students in Czech universities has also been increasing,” the embassy said.
