Kashmir Should Be Discussed: Jaswant

KARACHI, 6 February 2006 — The visiting Indian leader of the opposition in Rajya Sabha, Jaswant Singh, has expressed the confidence that the outstanding issues between India and Pakistan would be resolved through negotiations.

He was speaking at a dinner hosted by Sindh Chief Minister Arbab Ghulam Rahim at the CM House which was also attended by provincial ministers and elected representatives.

Jaswant Singh pointed out that when he was foreign minister in the Cabinet of Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee their efforts were to see that India and Pakistan adopted the course of peace and there should be negotiations on all issues, including that of Kashmir, and its solution be found.

He said that our future lay in peace and there was no course other than peace.

Jaswant Singh expressed gratitude for the warm welcome for him and his delegation. He said the people of the two countries very much desired peace and friendship.
