ISLAMABAD, 7 February 2006 — Pakistan is not satisfied with the sluggish pace of India-Pakistan peace process, Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said here yesterday.
Tasnim said if India has decided to withdraw its 3,000 troops from Kashmir as a part of Pakistan’s proposal, “We welcome it”.
Responding to a question she said there were few irritants in opening new visa outlets so Pakistan has decided to issue visas through consulates only.
Meanwhile, Tasnim said Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Khaleda Zia will pay an official visit to Pakistan from Feb. 12-14. Khaleda is expected to meet with President Pervez Musharraf for talks covering a “complete range” of issues between the nations.”
Tasnim said Pakistan and Bangladesh will sign a few MOUs during her visit to Pakistan.
“Pakistan and Bangladesh have been working very closely during multilateral summits like OIC, NAM and Commonwealth.
Earlier the Pakistan Muslim League Secretary-General Mushahid Hussain Syed has said that India should show courage and take bold steps to solve the longstanding issue of Kashmir. “Pakistan seeks the just solution of Kashmir for peace in region has already shown greater flexibility in its stands,” he said.
“It is now India’s turn to show courage and step forward to give Kahmiris their right of independence,” he said. Mushahid Hussain who is a member of the Kashmir Committee, said Kashmiris are not alone in their fight.
“Pakistan will continue to give diplomatic, moral and political support at all forums to Kashmiris in their fight for liberation from India,” he said.
