JEDDAH, 18 February 2006 — The Qassim-based Foundation for Increasing Islamic Awareness Among Foreign Communities has announced that it will publish a book about the life of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in Danish and distribute it in Denmark and other European countries.
“Many people contributed by raising funds needed to accomplish this important mission,” Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al-Tuwaijri, founder of the organization, told Arab News.
“It only took 12 days to collect the SR1 million needed to start publishing the book,” said Al-Tuwaijri. “The book will be distributed for free throughout Europe, but most of it will go to Denmark to explain what the Prophet stood for and the eternal values that he left behind for the humanity.”
The fund-raising was accomplished with the assistance of Al-Rajhi Bank and the National Commercial Bank.
Cartoons distorting the true image of the Prophet published first by Denmark’s Jyllands-Posten newspaper on Sept. 30 and reprinted in many European newspapers shocked Muslims around the world. Boycotts, violent protests and ruined diplomatic ties have been the repercussions.
Everyone was given a chance to participate in raising money, a drive that began with text messaging.
“Support your Prophet even with a single riyal like he supported you and will support you on the Day of Judgment,” said the message that included the foundation’s account numbers.
Al-Tuwaijri said the book’s name and its exact date of publication have yet to be determined.
