JEDDAH, 8 September 2006 — Saudi Arabian Airlines signed a new agreement with Saudi Mail Agency for transporting domestic mail, regular and supreme, within the framework of the agency’s operation developments it is seeking to achieve in providing the best mail service in the Kingdom. “The agreement is within the framework of the strong relationship between Saudia and Saudi Mail and the coordination and cooperation between them for transporting domestic mail to all the regions in the Kingdom. The agreement came after joint studies to put the appropriate mechanisms,” said Fahad Hammad, assistant manager for cargo services and sales at Saudia. It aims at increasing the amount of mail transported by Saudia domestically and internationally, easing the service procedures for transporting mail in accordance with the regulations of International Mail Union and continuing the work of the joint committees to remove obstacles quickly and easily.
Taiwanese Business Delegation in Jeddah
JEDDAH, 8 September 2006 — A Taiwanese business delegation is visiting Jeddah tomorrow and Sunday to hold meetings with their Saudi business counterparts and appoint agents and distributors. “Most of the companies and factories representing in the delegation are presenting their products to Saudi businessmen for the first time,” said Madawi Al-Hasoun, board of directors member and co-chair of the communication committee at the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The delegation consists of 30 businessmen representing 23 of the largest companies in Taiwan in the fields of electronics, information technology, industrial machines, electric equipments, food and soda packaging, health equipment, plastics and construction among others. Saudi imports from Taiwan in 2005 reached around SR1.9 billion, an increase of 28 percent from 2004, with electric equipment representing 55 percent of the imports.
