JEDDAH, 14 March 2006 — Al-Ittihad scored an easy 5-2 victory from Ansar of Madinah in a Saudi Soccer League match last night at Prince Abdullah AL-Faisal Stadium here. Muhammad Kalon scored a hat trick of goals for Ittihad with strikes in the 9th, 13th and 45th minutes. Prince Tago added a marker in the 35th minute and Manaf Abu Shugeer in the 74th minute. Ansar’s goals were two penalty kicks in the 44th and 55th minute. Ittihad are third with 34 points and Ansar last with a mere 9 points.
Ahli Recruit 2 Players From Wehda
JEDDAH, 14 March 2006 — Al-Ahli club has signed two Wehda players to a contract for the remainder of the season. On the recommendation of the coach, Ahli recruited left wing Talal Al-Khaybari and goalkeeper Assaf Al-Garni. Al-Khaybari is to fill the void left by the injured Hussein Abdul Ghani while Al-Garni is to come in place of the Ahli goalkeeper who joined the national team.
National Team Gear Up for Iraq Match
JEDDAH, 14 March 2006 — The Saudi national team wound up their final preparation at training camp in Jeddah for the friendly match against Iraq national team tomorrow. Muhammad Al-Shalhoub will be missed by the team as he flew back to Riyadh because of family emergency. The Iraqi team arrived in the Kingdom after a 48-hour journey that began with a bus travel to Amman where they caught a plane that took them here.
