JEDDAH, 18 March 2006 — It’s no surprise that stockbrokers have different strategies for making money. What is perhaps more unexpected is when two stockbrokers happen to be brothers who happen to be brokers on the floor of the Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul) in Riyadh; and these brothers disagree so strongly on investment strategy that they nearly attack each other right there among the bustle of stock trading. This is what happened recently, according to the Arabic-language daily Al-Madinah. The two brothers were prevented from fisticuffs only after other brokers intervened. According to the report, the brothers disagreed on how to invest a large sum of money taken out as bank loans to be dumped in the Tadawul.
