JEDDAH, 20 March 2006 — Pakistan’s Ambassador Adm. (Retd) Shahid Karimullah discussed with Ziyad Bassam Al-Bassam, the vice chairman of the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce & Industry, issues related to the promotion of trade between the two countries.
The ambassador, who is currently on a visit to the Western Province, met Bassam yesterday and apprised him of Expo Pakistan 2006 to be held in Karachi from March 29 to April 2.
Bassam told Karimullah about his experience of Expo 2005. He said he met a number of Pakistani businessmen during his visit to Karachi to participate in the event.
Karimullah was informed that a large number of Saudi businessmen were willing to visit Expo-2006 and are interested in trade with Pakistani companies.
Earlier the ambassador called on OIC Secretary-General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu and discussed with him Kashmir issue, blasphemous caricatures and appointment of special representative on Kashmir by the OIC.
The ambassador also met Ahmad Muhammad Ali, president of the Islamic Development Bank at the IDB headquarters and discussed with him matters concerning the funding of development projects in Islamic countries and thanked him for the continued support IDB extended to Pakistan for various development projects.
