RIYADH, 26 March 2006 — The Kingdom’s national soccer team started training yesterday in preparation for their friendly match against Poland on Tuesday in Riyadh. This match is a warm-up for the Saudi team for the forthcoming World Cup in Germany. The match will take place at King Fahd International Stadium. The team’s training venue is Prince Faisal ibn Fahd Stadium. The Polish team will arrive in Riyadh tonight.
Ahli Sink Al-Safa in Water Polo
JEDDAH, 26 March 2006 — Al-Ahli secured an important victory after defeating Al-Safa 14-4 in a water polo contest held here recently. Ahli strengthened their position by climbing to second place, behind the first-placed Ittihad, who have already secured the title for this season. Al-Safa are fourth in the rankings.
Ittihad Win Saudi Basketball Tourney
JEDDAH, 26 March 2006 — The Al-Ittihad basketball club added one more title after winning the Prince Faisal ibn Fahd Cup, which they had won last year. The new title came in the Saudi basketball tournament when they beat Al-Ahli 92-81 here on Friday. Upbeat Ittihad are looking forward to make it a sweep of titles as they are favorites in the Saudi Cup competition that will start from Thursday. Top six teams are taking part in the tournament.
