JEDDAH, 1 April 2006 — The Ministry of Higher Education’s “Aafaq” (Horizons) project to set long-term goals for the Kingdom’s system of higher education will kick off today.
King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals will spearhead the project, which will address a variety of subjects such as architecture, higher education for women, and scientific research.
The main goal of Aafaq is to create a 25-year vision to further develop and sustain higher education through implementing strategic and technical planning based on the results of the research. Research contracts worth SR18 million were awarded last week.
