Design Gallery Takes Off the Flab
HP Design Gallery is a new software that allows users of HP Photosmart cameras to create super effects on their photos right on the camera — no PC required. Put a color coordinated frame around an image. Turn an image into a cartoon. Or best of all, make the people in a image look slimmer. That’s right, Design Gallery software can make the subjects in a photo look like they’ve lost weight without dieting!
The Design Gallery software used with the HP Photosmart R927 works by automatically removing pixels from the center of the frame and around the subject of the photo, while expanding details at the edges. The 8.2 megapixel “image sensor” and Design Gallery software “intelligently” sharpen the subject’s outline, subtly slimming subjects in the center of the image.
The HP Design Gallery is simple to use and the original photo is preserved, so it is possible to create several effects or even apply multiple effects to an image. The Design Gallery effects depend on the camera model. The effects are nearly unlimited as one effect can be applied on top of another. For instance, a user can crop an image, remove red-eyes, apply a slimming filter, then solarize and finally apply a burn edge border, all within the camera.

Versatile System for Quality Prints
HP has launched the HP Photosmart Pro B9180 A3+ Photo Printer, designed specifically for professional photographers. The Pro B9180 enables photographers to print their photos and proofs without relying on a photo lab. Proofs can be printed in less than two minutes for A3+ prints and less than 10 seconds for 10x15 cm prints.
The printer comes with eight, high-capacity individual pigment-based HP Vivera Inks and enhanced media compatibility. Prints produced with the pigment-based HP Vivera Inks are waterproof and resist fading for up to 200 years. In addition to the eight individual pigment ink cartridges, the newly designed printing system features four two-color printheads with 8,448 nozzles for precise, consistent drop placement, enhanced color accuracy and prints that will more closely represent the image seen through the lens and on the PC. The high-capacity ink cartridges allow professional photographers to print up to approximately 80 A3+ prints or 840 10x15 cm photos. The use of HP Pro print plug-in for Adobe Photoshop, and a host of ICC profiles in the printer software, deliver precise, predictable color quality, print after print.
HP has increased its range of professional photo and fine art papers to help photographers without large format printing facilities, produce A3+ prints that meet professional requirements. HP Advanced Photo Paper features retail quality finishes, in glossy and satin-matt. The paper’s instant dry porous coating allows immediate handling without smudging. The new A3+ HP digital fine art papers range provides photographers with the materials needed to display their work in a gallery. Four types of papers — Watercolor, Aquarella Art, Smooth Fine Art and Artist Matte Canvas — give professionals greater choice when printing work for display.
