Prince Sultan OKs Names of Players for Training

JEDDAH, 23 April 2006 — Prince Sultan ibn Fahd, president of the General Presidency of Youth Welfare and the Saudi Football Federation approved the names of the players, who have been included in the national squad to attend the training camp in Holland.

Brazilian Marcos Paqueta, the national team coach and the technical committee recommended the following names to the squad that will attend the two weeks training camp for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2006 in Germany.

The names are: Mohammed Al-Daeya, Abdulaziz Al-Khathran, Khalid Aziz, Omar Al-Ghamdi, Nawaf Al-Timyat, Mohammed Al-Shalhoub, Sami Al-Jaber, Yasser Al-Qahtani and Mohammed Al-Anbar (Al-Hilal); Mustafa Malaikah (Al-Ansar); Hussain Abdulghani, Naif Al-Ghadi, Mohammed Musaad and Malik Muath (Al-Ahli); Mabrouk Zayed, Hamad Al-Muntashiri, Rida Takur, Usamah Al-Muwalad, Ahmad Al-Doukhi, Saud Kariri, Mohammed Nur and Mohammed Amin (Al-Ittihad); Ahmed Al-Bahari (Al-Shabab) and Saad Al-Harthi (Al-Nasr).

Meantime, the national team will play two friendlies against Belgium on May 11 and against Togo on May 14.

Saudis to Get 11,000 Tickets

to FIFA World Cup

The German Embassy in Riyadh has announced that it has reserved 11,000 tickets for Saudi football fans to attend the World Cup matches in Germany. According to the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) the country that is participating in the World Cup has the opportunity to distribute 8 percent of tickets of each match they will be playing. The embassy requested all Saudis and expats in the Kingdom who are intending to attend the matches to process their visas in advance as it takes about 10 days to secure one.
