RIYADH, 24 April 2006 — Filipino architects based in the Kingdom are being invited to join the Master Builders Association of the Philippines (MBAP) and avail themselves of the services provided by the organization.
MBAP President Chris Sotero said the group is currently strengthening its continuing education program as other professionals, such as the mechanical, civil and electrical engineers, are doing.
In addition, MBAP has also lined up among its programs a review for licensure examinations, community service and physical fitness through sports, among other worthwhile activities.
During the group’s recent general assembly at the Philippine Embassy, Sotero announced the formation of the Eastern Region chapter of the association.
“We are renewing our commitments to serve our kababayans through our talents and expertise as architects and to serve them via a free house design consultation that would help them put in reality one of their noble purposes in working abroad, which is to have their own dream house come true,” said Sotero.
Present during the assembly were Leo Cefre, president-elect of the new chapter, as well as Jefferson Jabilles, president of the Ultra Media International Foundation (UMIF), who conducted a presentation on innovations in graphic arts and animation.
Sotero said Filipino architects and those from allied professions — engineers and artists — have to keep themselves abreast of the latest developments in graphic arts and animation to be recognized in the highly competitive global market.
On the physical fitness side, MBAP sports committee head Wilmer Giron said the association will participate in the forthcoming bowling and basketball tournaments of the Alliance of Filipino Professionals in Riyadh (AFPro), the umbrella organization of architects, civil and structural engineers, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, accountants, and the Computer Society of Filipinos or Comsofil.
