JEDDAH, 2 May 2006 — The Ministry of Higher Education has postponed accepting scholarship applications to study in the US for the 2007 academic year until Aug. 15. The original start date was yesterday.
A ministry source told Arab News that the delay will allow the ministry time to improve the acceptance process. Last year’s scholarship process was chaotic due to the unexpected high number of applicants.
New majors eligible for state scholarships to study abroad include classical and modern languages, oriental studies, European law, English language, political science and economic science.
These are in addition to last year’s majors, which included medical fellowships, nursing, engineering, radiology, health sciences, medical laboratories and technology studies, mathematics, physics, chemistry, law, computer science, e-commerce and accounting. Majors include all levels of study.
Candidates can apply beginning Aug. 15 through the website www.mohe.gov.sa.
