JEDDAH, 5 May 2006 — Crowne Plaza Jeddah will be organizing a German food promotion from tomorrow.
“The 10-day event, that will continue till May 16, aims at setting the right ambiance in the context of the World Cup scheduled in Germany next month,” Thomas Schmelter, general manager of the hotel, told reporters yesterday.
“A delectable array of German cuisine will be on offer,” said Executive Chef Christof Egli. The hotel, which boasts many themed restaurants, is set to introduce new tastes and offer the best foods from around the world.
“This gastronomic event, starting with the German cuisine, allows people of all ages and places to savor Germany’s flair for food,” said Egli who is being assisted by over three dozen cooks.
German buffet, which will be on offer at its Al Yasmin restaurant from 7 p.m. to midnight, includes varieties of soups, salad and appetizers, hot stuff, sweets and bread.
Especially prepared for the event are green split pea soup and chicken soup with noodles, German sausage salad, potato salad with bacon and mayonnaise, lentil salad with vegetable brunoise, white turnip salad with caraway, cabbage salad with bacon, asparagus salad, tomato salad, and herring salad with apple and sour cream, cheese plate with grapes, smoked fish platter, cold cut platter with pepper pastrami, liver sausage, panfried meatloaf with fried eggs, whole roasted duck, boiled beef tong, sour roast, braised lamb with poree, etc.
Sweet varieties include Black Forest, Berliner with vanilla cream, marble chocolate mousse.
Dark bread, Pretzel, whole wheat bread, rye bread, salty sticks and nut bread are among the bread varieties.
