DAMMAM, 7 May 2006 — In the second week of EPCA Under -15 tournament sponsored by Asian International School (English Section) Alkhobar Pakistani International School defeated Almajd International School boys by 9 wickets and Victory International School Dammam downed EPCA Greens by five runs.
Having won the toss Pakistani School put Almajd School into bat and restricted them to 59-3 in their allotted 15 overs. Chasing the target of 60 runs, the winners achieved it easily for the loss of only one wicket in 8 overs with Junaid making 32 with 5 boundaries and Mohammad Talha scoring 16 runs.
Batting first, Victory School scored 83 for 2 in the stipulated overs. Talha Nadeem scored unbeaten 26 with 4 fours and Abdullah Abbassi hit 4 boundaries in making 23. In reply EPCA Greens could only muster 78 for the loss of four wickets despite fighting effort from Usman 23 with one six and three boundaries. Ali Asif (19) and Hamza (12) were the other runs contributors. Zaeem bowled well and claimed two wickets for 14.
In another match, Pakistani School Greens defeated Asian International School by 32 runs. Batting first, Pakistani School Greens boys accumulated a respectable 89 for 1 from their 15 overs with Sadoon Asif hitting 41 not out with 5 fours and 1 six. In reply Asian International School managed only 57 for 3 in their allotted overs with Maaz the top scorer with 13.
Earlier EPCA President Sikander F. Farooqui has formed a technical committee to promote cricket and offer coaching at grassroots level to players between the ages of under 12 and 17. Named to the committee were Syed Talal Iqbal and Asif Mazhar, batting coaches; Ejaz Saeed and Nasir Mahmood, bowling coaches; Raiz Saeed, fielding coach and Shahjahan, wicketkeeping coach.
