JEDDAH, 20 May 2006 — Pakistanis formed a new organization at a meeting here on Wednesday. Pakistan Welfare Society, as it is named, will extend free medical services and medicines to needy Pakistanis, Convener Dr. Khalilur Rehman said. The meeting also discussed measures to help students who cannot afford their tuition fee. “The society is planning to host a quiz contest for students and will encourage them with prizes and scholarships,” Rehman said. He also announced a nine-member supreme council of the society. Jawed Akhtar, minister at the Pakistan Consulate General and Ghulam Shabeer were the guests of honor. Zaman Sharif presided over the function.
