Saudi Man Admits Torturing Maid

MAKKAH, 9 June 2006 — The Saudi man charged with torturing his maid and dumping her in front of a hospital in Makkah has admitted his crime to police, the Al-Watan newspaper reported. The man said he beat the maid as an act of revenge for torturing his children. Speaking to investigators he said the woman was breaking stuff in the house and even once tried to burn their house down while they were asleep. Police have detained the sponsor while they conduct their inquiries. The maid is in critical condition at the King Abdul Aziz Hospital.
