ABHA, 19 June 2006 — Two families at a wedding party in Abha exchanged blows after a youngster was seen taking pictures of the bride using a cell phone while she was in the make-up room, Al-Riyadh newspaper reported yesterday. The joyous occasion was blighted when a guest noticed the youth perched on a window in the room snapping pictures of the bride. Women who were with the bride noticed the youth and began screaming. By the time the men arrived, the youth had disappeared. Not knowing what to do, the bride’s family said the youngster was from the groom’s family while the groom’s side put the blame on the bride’s side. The two parties exchanged blows following a war of words and in the ensuing melee, the groom decided that he would not let this ruin his special day and took the bride and disappeared, leaving the relatives to fight each other. How the feud ended was not clear, but it did not go the way of the Capulet-Montague fight in which Romeo and Juliet died to bring themselves together.
