CAIRO, 27 June 2006 — Egyptian comedian Abdul Munim Madbouli was admitted in the intensive care ward of the Moqaweloun Hospital in Cairo on Friday following sever breathing difficulties, Asharq Al-Awsat reported yesterday.
Madbouli’s daughter, Amal, said he was frequently relapsing into a state of coma and regained full consciousness only for short periods of time.
“Dad has been in and out of the hospital for the past two years with spleen problems and a lymphatic tumor. Currently his condition is steady,” Amal said.
The actor returned recently from a visit to a liver and gastroenterology consultant in France. The French doctor recommended that he continue his treatment in Cairo.
He complained of a loss of appetite and suffered from severe depression following his return from France, relatives said.
Madbouli’s last film was “Pigeon Hunter” in which he acted with Ashraf Abdul Bagi.
