STC Awards Huawei UMTS Contract

Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. (Huawei), a global provider of next generation telecommunications networks, has been awarded a contract by Saudi Telecom Company (STC) to deploy its 3G network in the Kingdom.

According to the contract, Huawei will supply a complete core network and new generation NodeBs to help STC launch 3G services countrywide and maintain its leading position. STC selected Huawei after its GSM Softswitch network built by Huawei successfully withstood tremendous peak traffic during this year’s Haj holy season. “STC is dedicated to delivering superb 3G services through a reliable 3G network and chose Huawei because the performance and reliability of Huawei’s 3G solution more than meets our requirements,” said Dr. Zeyad Thamir Al-Otaibi, VP of STC. Huawei’s UMTS new generation NodeB incorporates new and innovative features, such as the highly efficient digital power amplifier supporting the multicarrier technology and support for full–performance HSDPA. The new generation UMTS NodeB effectively improves network performance and reduces the total cost of ownership for operators.

HR and Payroll Automated at BSF

Raya Corporation has successfully completed the Banque Saudi Fransi (BSF) Automation Project. The project involved establishing an efficient, automated and fully integrated system for management of human resources (HR) and payroll processes at the bank.

Raya, an advanced Oracle Partner, was selected for this project on the recommendation of the global enterprise software vendor. The yearlong project was taken up in order to help streamline HR procedures toward improving the performance and productivity of BSF’s employees and managers.

By deploying the Oracle HRMS and Payroll solution, Raya implemented fully integrated HR and payroll processes that support all types of employment progression and career management and serve as a one-stop-shop for information required to make key HR decisions. The project involved identifying BSF’s HR requirements through extensive meetings with different departments within the bank, training the management to switch to the new system as well as migrating massive amounts of bank data from the old to the new.
