JEDDAH, 19 July 2006 — A court in Jeddah threw out a complaint by a man who accused his wife of having relations with other men, the daily Al-Madinah reported. In an unprecedented case, the husband’s complaint revolved around his wife’s interaction with other men online. The court had to consult with the Ministry of Information and Culture before acquitting the woman of any wrongdoing. The husband discovered his wife’s “infidelity” by installing software on the computer to monitor his spouse’s Internet habits. In what is perhaps the second step toward a collapsed marriage — the first being the husband taking his wife to court in the first place after spying on her — the wife has now filed a counter-suit accusing her husband of defaming her reputation by bringing up the charge.
