Gulf Judo Meet Starts Today

JEDDAH, 2 August 2006 — The 10th Gulf Judo Championship for young judokas under the age of 13 and under the age of 17 will start today in Kuwait.

The competition will last for two days. Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, UAE and Bahrain will participate in the competition.

Suleiman Al-Huraish, president of the Saudi Judo and Taekwondo Federation, headed the Saudi delegation to Kuwait. Al-Huraish said he was optimistic that the Saudi team would come back with the gold medals.

He said that the Saudi team participated very well through training campaigns inside and outside Saudi Arabia. The Saudi judo delegation arrived in Kuwait from Egypt on Monday after two weeks of training. The Saudi team played strong matches against the Egyptian teams. Captain of the Saudi Judo team, Muhammad Al-Sayed, said that the Saudi team gained a lot of experience that would help them in the competition.
