Doctors Mistaken for Illegal Aliens

JEDDAH, 28 September 2006 — Four expatriate doctors were surprised to find airport officials detaining them as illegal entrants upon their return from vacations abroad, the Al-Watan daily reported yesterday. The doctors had been involved in some medical malpractice suits, but had been permitted by the Ministry of Health to leave the country with the cases pending on exit/re-entry visas. The doctors were released after officials clarified the matter and realized they weren’t humble laborers trying to illegally enter the country to work.
