Al-Jandoul Claim NCB Soccer Title

JEDDAH, 15 October 2006 — Al-Jandoul beat Abdulkhaliq Saeed Company 6-3 via penalty shootout to claim the 2nd National Commercial Bank Ramadan annual soccer tournament title at the Al-Ahli Stadium here on Friday.

NCB Chairman Nabil Tarabulsy along with a host of NCB administration members and 2,000 fans witnessed the engrossing finale. Al-Jandoul dominated the first half and International player Mohammed Shaliyah scored the first goal, which was embellished by Naif Al-Khaibary to put Al-Jandoul two-up.

However, just before the break, Abdulkhaliq Saeed’s striker Jafaar Al-Attas pulled one back to keep his team in fray. Abdulkhaliq Saeed were a transformed side in the second half and managed to force the shootout with a late strike in the latter half by Othman Seesi.

In the resultant penalties, Al-Jandoul scored their first four goals in succession through Abdullah Sulaiman, Mohammed Salim, Khalid Al-Shamrani and Imad Siddig. Abdulkhaliq Saeed, however managed to convert only their first shot by Saeed Hassan.

Al-Jandoul, apart from the golden cup, picked up a cash prize of SR40, 000 while Abdulkhaliq Saeed went home with SR20, 000. Mohammed Shaliyah won the best player award of SR3,000, Hussain Dahgriri won SR3, 000 for top scorer and Ateeg Al-Silami won SR3, 000 as best goalkeeper.

The tournament, which started on Sept. 25, attracted 12 teams. Mohammed Aboud Al-Amoudi, NCB (first team), Safaa, Al-Raqqi Card, Abdulkhaliq Saeed Company, Al-Serafi Mega Mall, Al-Khair Company, Saab Company of Mansour Al-Balawi, NCB (second team), Hatco Telecommunications, Al-Jandoul Company and Mohammed Yousif Naghi Co. LG.

In addition, commentator Ahmed Abu Zaid announced a surprise for the spectators. NCB program for renting, the official sponsor for this tournament, raffled a DIO car that was won by Hassan Kabish.

Director of the organizing committee Marwan Daftardar supervised the tournament along with Feras Al-Turki, president of the financial committee, and Khalid Masoud, member of the technical committee. Two former Al-Ahli players Hussam Abu Dawoud and Ammar Al-Najjar were in the executive committee with Ibrahim Al-Jaar, Ahmed Al-Jilani, Khalid Masoud, Sami Battati, Najib Yassin, Fahd Barabaa, Hamda Badreis and Asim Rajab.
