SANAA, 8 November 2006 — Yemen yesterday extradited to the Kingdom two Saudis wanted by Riyadh over drug trafficking charges, security sources said.

The two unnamed men were arrested on Yemeni territory following a warrant issued by Saudi authorities and were handed over in accordance with security accords between the two countries, one source told Arab News.

Fugitives sought by Saudi police often flee into Yemen across its porous border with the Kingdom.

Saudi Arabia and Yemen have in recent years closely cooperated to curb the movement of suspected terrorists and drug traffickers across the border. Dozens of suspects have been exchanged since a security deal was signed in 2003, with an extradition accord existing between the two countries since 1998.
